Lost & Found

On my walk back from an engaging meeting, I dived into my pocket to grab my phone, at the time I wasn’t aware that I had also pulled out a £20 note that just fell to the ground! My senses kicked in as I was arriving home and I did a frantic check of my pockets, wallet and my business case and came up with a blank on all counts! It was gone! Lost, or even picked up by some lucky passerby!

I phoned the coffee shop to check, no luck there! In my head I went through my walk home and weighed up whether it was worth re-tracing my walk home to see if I could find the £20, part of me was saying it’s gone but a stronger sense said get out there and look.

I was very focused and believed that I would find it and walked up and down the path that I had just walked 10 mins ago, I had a few moments of maybe I’m not going to find it but I stayed with the thought and image of the £20 note that was folded in two that had fallen out of my pocket. On this occasion, I found the money, now, it wasn’t a game changing find as it was £20 I had already had moments before but I always like to see if I can find further deeper learning for myself.

In my meeting I had mentioned that I had an issue of not valuing money as a high value of mine, I value health and happiness amongst other things in front of money. So this little experience was a nice reminder of of appreciating what you’ve got and not taking it for granted that it’s always going to be there when you reach out for it.

Being able to be grateful for all of the things that are there in our lives that can easily drop out of our awareness when we’re busy doing other stuff, so much of our lives is run at such a pace that we miss opportunities to be fully present for those people or things that we really care for.

This experience this morning was a reminder that you don’t have to have a life event to help you re-connect to the really important things that you value most in your life, you just need to be awake enough to ask yourself a simple question each time you get a tap on the shoulder; “what rich learning is attempting to reveal itself to me right now?”

Our approach as a business is to continue to create awareness for the individuals and teams we work with to help them see a different perspective and ultimately get them to take more personal responsibility for what’s showing up in their lives. If you’re not getting the results that you want in life that question is a powerful question. Here it is again if you missed it earlier:-

What rich learning is attempting to reveal itself to me right now?
